The back is made up of a series of small hollow bones called vertebrae. The atlas supports the full weight of the head. Below that is the axis. The rest have intervertebral discs between them, except for those which are fused. Each disc has a tough shell that contains a soft substance inside. They cushion the bones from rubbing together. There are a number of possible reasons for the back pain, as your Charlotte Chiropractor can explain.

The back pain may be excruciating. Do not simply hope it will go away. Discover the way to relieve the severity through chiropractic intervention. This method is popular because it is safe. No medication is used and no one has to worry about becoming addicted.

A person who is suffering back pain should get help as soon as possible. An evaluation of what is causing that pain will be completed before care is recommended. It is important to determine whether chiropractic adjustments are appropriate for each new client.

Be ready to talk about the pain in great detail. The chiropractor needs to know how long you have had it and when it started. You may be unable to work. It might hurt equally when you are standing up, sitting down or lying down.

Your spine and any other part of the body that hurts will be examined. Measurements of strength, reflexes and range of motion are taken. Your posture will be assessed as it may be exacerbating the pain. It is rarely the main cause.

If you have taken a fall or been in a car accident the vertebrae may be forced out of the correct position. When that happens they may compress one of the spinal nerves. This misalignment can progress into a bulging or herniated disc if uncorrected. That causes excruciating pain.

Spinal adjustments to realign the vertebrae will reduce pressure to the nerve roots. A gentle, thrusting motion is applied to the spine at the appropriate place as the client lies down or sits up depending on which vertebrae are affected. Your pain will be alleviated gradually. You can look forward to returning to normal activities of daily living.
